How do you get started with bicycle leasing in healthcare? And how much work is involved?
There are two ways to set up a bicycle leasing plan for healthcare staff.
1. Via a central purchasing body (the fastest way)
Signing up through a central purchasing body gets you the best terms and most competitive prices, thanks to economies of scale. It also saves you a lot of work because you do not need to draw up and manage a public tender.
You can quickly and easily set up bicycle leasing through o2o Bicycle Leasing via these central purchasing bodies:
2. Via a public tender
If you are not affiliated with one of these central purchasing bodies, you’ll have to draw up a public tender. Not sure where to start? Our experts are available to help you through the entire process.
This is how we work together:
Step 1. You draw up a public tender. Our bicycle leasing guide has tips from our experts on drafting your tender for the public sector. Or email your questions to publicsector@o2o.be.
Step 2. If o2o Bicycle Leasing wins the tender, you will then work with our experts to draw up a bespoke bicycle plan and bicycle policy.
Step 3. Easily track your bicycle fleet thanks to our tools and integrations with flex-budget partners.

How do healthcare staff finance a lease bicycle?
Healthcare employees exchange all or part of their end-of-year allowance for a lease bicycle over 3 or 4 years. Only in Brussels and Wallonia you can also use the attractiveness premium.
Exchanging the end-of-year allowance is a type of flex budget. And thanks to this flex budget, healthcare staff enjoy a great tax benefit: a lease bicycle is up to 40% more affordable than buying one themselves.
An important note: the healthcare sector has a cap of €12,688.15 (in 2026) on exchanging the end-of-year allowance for a 3-year lease contract.
This means that the total gross lease price of a lease bicycle (the gross amount paid by the employee over 3 years) can't exceed €12,688.15. This amount is indexed every year.
For a shorter or longer lease period, the cap is calculated pro rata.
Why offer bicycle leasing in the healthcare sector?
Looking for great employee benefits for the healthcare sector? Look no further! Bicycle leasing is a great supplement to healthcare salaries and a cost-free way to offer alternative remuneration. We asked our clients in the healthcare sector what benefits bicycle leasing brings them and these 6 benefits were frequently mentioned.
Bicycle leasing is...
1. Accessible to all employees
As a healthcare institution, you often have a very diverse group of employees. That's why it's important to find a form of flexible remuneration that's accessible to everyone. Bicycle leasing works for both contract and statutory staff. And the pay scales within the joint committees are not affected because your staff finance their lease bicycles with their end-of-year allowance.
2. Completely budget-neutral
The fact that bicycle leasing is budget neutral for employers makes it extra attractive. Factor in how easy o2o makes it, and you'll immediately understand why so many HR managers consider it a no-brainer. It's a quick and easy way to give your employees a salary increase.
3. The solution to parking problems
Many healthcare institutions have limited parking space and, as a result, high parking costs. Bicycle leasing can make a real difference here.
4. A well-being boost for staff
Bicycle leasing encourages your employees to get some daily exercise, which is good for their physical and mental health. This, in turn, leads to less absenteeism and boosts job satisfaction. For many organisations, it's a great addition to their well-being policy.
5. Good for your employer branding
Bicycle leasing is hugely popular amongst employees and a real plus in the war for talent. Its attractiveness to employees is down to its many benefits:
- Up to 40% more affordable than buying privately
- Lower parking costs and less parking stress
- Cycling is a great way to unwind after a busy shift or working day
6. A boost for your sustainable mobility policy
Hospitals and other healthcare institutions want to become more sustainable. Bicycle leasing in healthcare is an excellent way to make your mobility policy more sustainable.
