Worry-free bicycle leasing: why Vrij CLB chose o2o
In December 2024, Vrij CLB launched bicycle leasing through o2o Bicycle Leasing. Business Director Katrien Van Steen expected a lot of research and administration, but it turned out to be surprisingly manageable. “We chose convenience and user-friendliness.”

Why do you offer bicycle leasing?
Katrien: “Flemish education offers few fringe benefits. Bicycle leasing is one of the few ways to add something extra to the salary package. Our employees also travel to schools for work, often in the city. A bicycle is very practical in those situations.”
How did your search for a bicycle leasing partner go?
Katrien: “We are a public-sector organisation, so for a project like bicycle leasing, we turn to a central purchasing body. More specifically, we are affiliated with three central purchasing bodies, which in turn work with different bicycle leasing providers. We assessed the affiliated providers and o2o came out on top.”
Why did you choose o2o?
Katrien: “Because of the user-friendliness of o2o’s platforms and the fact that o2o had already prepared everything thoroughly. For example, there was already a template for a declaration of intent and a bicycle policy. The platform was also demonstrated and explained during webinars. This gave us a very clear picture of the tools and the way of working. Internally, the decision was made quickly: we chose ease and user-friendliness. And so we chose o2o.”
How is bicycle leasing going today?
Katrien: “Very well. We were worried about the extra workload for our administrative department, but that didn’t happen. For administrative questions about the platform, I usually refer people to o2o’s chat function. You get an answer very quickly.”
“Our employees also find their way to lease bicycles easily. In the first year, 20 employees jumped on their bikes. Today, around 15% of our employees lease a bicycle.”
What do employees appreciate most?
Katrien: “The fact that so many bicycle shops are part of the network. Everyone can go to their own bicycle shop or to one nearby, and that is hugely appreciated. I also often hear that employees are very pleased with the wide range of bicycles.”
Do you lease a bicycle yourself?
Katrien: “Our employees can lease a bicycle after three years of service, once they’ve been given a permanent contract. I’ve only been working here for two years, but as soon as I’m eligible, you’ll definitely see me on the cycle path!”
